Labradoodles and Australian Labradoodles are different breeds. While they both have American Labs and poodles in their lines, the Australian LD adds the oldest first spaniel, the Irish Water Spaniel, and American or English Cocker Spaniel in the breed. For three generations, there can be no more poodle than one crossback to be considered ALD. Our girls Gemini and Cocoa are true Australian Labradoodles. We breed them to a poodle (to create multigenerational labradoodles) for improvement of coat texture and size. ALD make great hunting dogs as well as companion dogs. The result will be a smaller miniature size dog from 20-28lb grown (guess) and they will have curly non shed coats.
